Trixbox

I'm a big fan of Asterisk. In particular, the Trixbox package. Thanks to all those that made it possible.

Current setup is:
TrixBox 2.6
4 port digium TDM 400P with 4 modules to drive old analog stations
4 Sip phones throughout the house
Sip trunk to my VOIP provider (Vitelity).

In August of 2009, I ported the phone numbers I've used for 25 years from Verizon to Vitelity. Vitelity enables a SIP handoff that is fully digital and IP.This provide a lot of flexibility in routing, but the biggest advantage is eliminating the analog trunk interfaces. The echo issues and hardware support headaches of the analog cards will now be a distant memory. The process was VERY easy. I expected troubles in the telco turf battleground but saw none. A "tip of the hat" to the FCC for cracking the whip on the telcos and making them play well together.

Another win is that I can now move the PBX functionality to a much smaller and more energy efficient platform. I hope to save about 200 watts (24/7)!!
