Home Automation

I've had an ongoing project to instrument the house. Progress was slow and steady until we moved to a new house a few years ago. Moving required the de-installation and reinstallation of all the temperature sensors and monitoring. The focus on the new house has been to get the data collection up and running. After that, we'll install whatever control mechanism seem appropriate. On the top of the list is temperature measurement. The goal is to determine the affects of adding extra attic insulation, insulating the air ducts, upgrading some door seals, and various other home improvements. In addition to temperature, I'm also tracking relative humidity in the wine cellar. Power measurements are also being monitored via ethernet interfaces on the UPSs to keep a handle on power outages and power quality.
